How to Meal Prep Ready-to-Blend Freezer Smoothies
INSTRUCTIONS:
How to Make Freezer Smoothie Jars:
Gather any items needed: measuring cups, mason jars (sub for freezer-safe ziploc bags), a permanent marker if you want to label your smoothies, your favorite fruits & leafy greens and either my free PDF Freezer Smoothie Jar Recipes or find a few recipes online you’d like to try!
Next, measure out and place smoothie ingredients into mason jar (or reusable freezer-safe, ziploc bag). Screw lids on jar (seal bag) and store in freezer for up to 2-3 months. Label smoothie jar or bag if you’d like.
LEAVE OUT any liquid ingredients (milk, water, honey, yogurt, ect) and protein powders that are in recipe - write them on side/lid of mason jar or on zip loc bag. Add them in when you are ready to use meal prepped smoothies!
How to Prepare Freezer Smoothie Jars:
When you're ready to use your meal prepped smoothies, remove smoothie jar from freezer.
Add liquid base to container or bag (which helps defrost the fruit slightly). You can also thaw for a few minutes on the counter or in warm water. This helps the fruit and greens come out of the container more easily.
Pour into blender, add in any other ingredients (yogurt, protein powders, any extra boosters you’re craving) and blend until smooth.
Here are 4 recipes for make-ahead, freezer smoothie jars!
*leave out any additional ingredients (liquids, liquid sweeteners, yogurt or protein powders) when freezing these recipes - you will add those in when you are ready to prepare the smoothie :)
