word thoughts. pt 1.
words.
combination of letters communicating an understood meaning
used to express or communicate
may hold multiply meanings & may be perceived by others in different ways
created to fit into the surrounding context and message
The point of these word posts – whether they show up each week or randomly, is to keep it real, letting different words come to mind and then seeing where scripture mentions them & what that might look like (depending on the surrounding content as well). It also challenges me to keep learning and continue spending time in God’s Word - win, win ッ
As these posts give me a reminder to always draw back to the Truth and lean on our gracious and forgiving God, I hope they may do the same for you.
…
God’s Word.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
The words we speak.
James 3:9 “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.”
…
Words can be…
so loving
so clarifying
so powerful
so grace-giving
so forgiving
so deep & full of emotion
yet,
so hurtful
so confusing
so empty
so fear-driven.
How are we using our words to disciple others, to be real & honest, to bring light into each other’s lives and steward others towards God’s great and overflowing goodness?
…spoken and unspoken. use words wisely, with compassion and truth.
Ask yourself too… what does it look like, right now in your season of life, to dive into the Word of God, the one book that holds the most truth and greatest gift?
…as much as you want to overflow God’s goodness into other’s lives, we must take the time to allow our cups to be continuously filled up by His Word, so we don’t run dry.
